Mosaic Monday

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! This week we decided to go with a blue, red, and yellow theme. We also decided to use this weeks challenge to introduce the silhouette cameo. The three of us used the cameo to cut out our shapes.

{Katie's}
She used the cameo for the words and the lamp. Love it!

She used the cameo for the pictures frames. So cute!

{Lauren's}
I used the cameo for the cut out of the sailboat, sun, and clouds.
I really love my silhouette cameo. You can buy shapes for 99 cents and they never expire. The store has endless shapes and what I like is that you can take shapes apart, add them together, add text, and resize them. I recommend checking it out.

Katie also had our friend Mary make a card as a surprise and her card is below! Love the spring flowers!
Have a great week!

Changing it up!

Happy Monday! This weekend FINALLY brought the warmer-ish weather and it was SUCH a blessing! It's exciting to think that flip-flop season is right around the corner.

We're going to switch up our Mosaic Mondays this week with a 'template challenge' using any colors that we can...

HOPPY Easter!!

No Easter celebration would be complete without decorating eggs! I took a few minutes (literally about 15) in between Easter brunch and going to visit extended family to get my egg decorating fix in. I tried to get my sister to play along, but apparently she's too old for that...whaaaaat?!! So, to make things easy and mess-free, I decided to use Sharpie markers instead of that horrible vinegar/food coloring combination.

Voila!

 Happy Easter everyone!

Canvas Art

Happy Monday!

Hope you all had a great weekend. I wanted to make a present for my friend who just found out she is having a baby boy. It was a fun and simple project.

Here is what you need:
  • canvas
  • acrylic paint
  • paintbrushes
  • stickers

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out giraffes and chevron strips on vinyl but you could just use stickers you like. Then I placed the stickers on the canvas, make sure the stickers are on so that that when you paint over it none of the paint gets underneath them.

Place the stickers where you want them. I liked having just one facing the opposite way.

Paint on top of the stickers. I decided to have the top part be a different color than the bottom. You may need a couple of layers of paint in order for it to cover up the white of the canvas.

Once the paint is dry you can peel off the stickers. I chose not to paint in the giraffes, but you could certainly do so if you want to add a little more color to the canvas.
Not too bad for my first attempt. Hopefully my friend will like it!

Well, after a longer than planned hiatus from crafting, we're back with another EASY, fun project! If you're anything like me, your fridge is probably one giant photo collage with almost every inch covered with fun memories. And of course, many pictures require many magnets! Here's a simple, cute way to hold up your favorite photos:

You will need:
-Mini canvases - found at Michaels Craft Store - only $5 for a pack of 8.
-Paint - I used Acrylic
-Paintbrushes
-Sticky magnet strips or dots

(this awesome paintbrush set was only $4.99 at Michael's!)

The instructions are pretty basic...just grab a paintbrush and go to town! Paint your favorite quote, flowers or even show some pride for your favorite college team. Just remember to give each coat a few minutes to dry before painting over it.

(Go SOONERS!)

When you're finished painting and have let the canvas dry, cut a square of the magnet strip and apply to the back of the canvas. Mine already had a sticky side, but a glue gun would work if yours didn't.

Now just grab your favorite pictures and hope you have an empty spot on the fridge for your new magnets!

Until next time....
